How can you apply Noblesse Oblige in IT?

The concept of noblesse oblige is that wealth, prestige and power comes with great responsibility. In my opinion, this means that everything comes with great responsibility whether or not, we intend to do it or not. Anyway, noblesse oblige is a concept of knowing where you should be positioning yourself in accordance with your status such as being wealthy, a leader, etc.

The concept of noblesse oblige can be applied in IT in different ways. One is in line with the concept that wealth, power and prestige comes with great responsibility. This would be applied in IT in such a way that an IT professional should always think of the consequences of his actions in line with his field of work. Let's say an IT professional who is designing and developing a software. He should think of how this would affect the people who are going to use the software. Aside from this, the IT professional needs to know that he will be held responsible of whatever happens with the software he develops.

Noblesse oblige can also be applied in IT in such a way that an IT professional should know his position or place in his field. For example, the IT professional is going to do a maintenance on a database full of personal data about different people which are supposed to be hidden in order to protect these people. Let's say that the database he is maintaining is the database from a bank and the information contained in the database include the bank account number of its client. The IT professional should know that he should not mess around with these vital information such as stealing money from this bank accounts, changing the pin numbers and telling other people the account number of the clients of the bank.
